On Sunday, February 6, 2011, twenty-five Leukemia fighters walked cautiously onto the ice covering Lake Simcoe to participate in the annual Ice Fishing Derby to raise $815 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

Dan Daudlin, Union Steward at Cargill Watson, and Gord Hyder shared the $100 prize for the biggest fish.

We had some first timers attend the event this year turn including Paul and Matthew Capranos, Dan Daudlin, Sally and Luc Payette, and Brian Reid who brought Ryan and Joe.

The weather held out and made for a nice sunny day. And while the fish seemed to be a bit picky about being caught, everyone had a great time.

Thank you to all the participants for making the event a success! We look forward to seeing you next year.

Thank you to the Central East and Central West regional directors and staff for supplying sausages and prizes and to the South Central region for sausage buns and prizes. The Organizing department also donated prizes and Rob Gibson donated three buckets full of golf balls. And a special thank-you to President Shawn Haggerty for his prize donation and ongoing support for this event.
