Parties request assistance of Ministry of Labour Conciliation Officer

January 12, 2012 at 5:03pm

Following the twelfth day of negotiations between the Union and the company, the parties have requested the aid of a Ministry of Labour Conciliation Officer as the process moves forward.

“We want to make sure these negotiations keep moving forward and we welcome assistance from the Conciliation Officer,” explains UFCW Local 175 President Shawn Haggerty.

Further meeting dates, which will include the Conciliation Officer, have been scheduled for February 8 and 9, 2012.

“Your committee is experienced, unified and continues to stand strong throughout this process,” continues President Haggerty. “Negotiations require patience and your committee has been very supportive of this due process.”

Negotiations are time consuming. Your committee, made up of your co-workers, is doing its best to achieve the best possible agreement for all members. The nature of negotiations involves a lot of thoughtful discussion and give and take between the parties, which is why it can take so long.

Again, we ask that you support your committee. Please understand that negotiations can be a difficult and long process. Please remember that your committee cannot reveal the details of what’s going on in bargaining.

Thank you for your continued support.
