New contract for Fort William Golf Club workers

May 28, 2012 at 6:57pm

A new three-year agreement was ratified by workers at the Fort William Golf & Country Club in Thunder Bay at a meeting held May 18, 2012.

Workers with five years or more of service with the employer receive a wage premium in recognition of that service of 20 cents per hour, per year worked above five years. Full-time workers receive six paid sick days per year with no waiting period for pay.

New language ensures the company will provide two pairs of gloves for each worker and have waterproof gloves available as well. The company will pay 50% of the lost wages for employees on the negotiating committee and the total cost for meeting rooms during negotiations including time spent in conciliation, mediation and interest arbitration.

Union Negotiating Committee: Terry Oldale, Albert Swieca and Union Rep Dean McLaren.
