Wage and benefit improvements in new contract for Cadbury workers

On June 16, 2012, members of Local 175 working at Kraft Canada’s Cadbury Gladstone facility in Toronto achieved a new three-year collective agreement. The more than 300 workers achieved a number of monetary improvements including an initial retroactive wage adjustment of 50 cents per hour across the board. Workers also receive an increase of 50 cents per hour to all rates and classifications in December 2012 and December 2013.Long-term Disability (LTD) monthly maximum improves to $2,800 and Life Insurance and AD&D coverage increase to $45,000 each. The workers’ Extended Health Benefit program will be continued and the three-year maximum increases to $11,000 effective January 2013. This benefit plan will also improve to include annual acupuncture coverage of $350. This amount increases to $400 effective January 2013. The maximum annual amount covered for dental claims increases to $1,600 as of ratification and $1,700 as of January 2013. The workers’ vision care plan will now cover up to $85 for eye exams once every 24 months.
Improved language addresses overtime, schedule changes, job classifications and job postings. The workers’ safety shoe allowance improves to $100 per year.
