On Saturday, June 16, 2012, sixteen teams took to the diamonds at the Baltimore Recreation Centre for the annual Region 3 Baseball Tournament to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

Despite the scorching temperature, more than 200 people were on hand throughout the day to watch, play and help out for this great cause. Everyone enjoyed a great lunch including BBQ ribs, hot dogs and hamburgers.

The $7,000 raised came from entry fees and from the many generous participants and spectators who purchased a barbecue lunch and raffle prizes. This year’s total was even higher than last year and had six more teams participating.
Tournament champions were:

· A Division – the team from Horizon Plastics
· B Division – the Sting Rays, from Bunge Canada
· C Division – the Beer Batters

A special thanks goes to the great chefs from Weston Bakeries who looked after the barbecuing: Joy Anne Moore, Bev Knight, Lynn Jillings and Sheila Butler. The Local Union would also like to thank volunteers Kyle, Jen & Kirsten Watson and Tracey Hoover from Horizon Plastics, and tournament coordinators Paull Vollering (Weetabix) and Rosalie Louis (Horizon Plastics), and tournament umpires Paul Campbell and Kevin Brown (Weetabix), Tim Louis (Weston Bakeries), Union Rep Chris Watson and Chief Umpire Jay Beven.
