Hospitality workers ratify wage and other improvements in new contract

On August 8, 2012, the more than 70 members of the bargaining unit working at Woodstock Quality Hotel & Suites secured a new collective agreement with a three-year term.

Workers receive wage increases of 3 per cent in each of the three years in the contract term. In addition, there is a new night shift premium of 25 cents per hour and workers now have a four-hour minimum guarantee of work per shift.  Contributions to the workers’ RSP increase to $335 per year.

Full-time workers now receive eyeglass coverage, including laser eye surgery and eye exams at $150 per 24-month period.

Other monetary improvements include an increase to the safety boot allowance for maintenance workers and increased contributions to the Local Union’s Training & Education Fund.

Workers benefit from a number of other language improvements including increased vacation payout.
