Day Care Centre workers renew 3-year deal
On AUGUST 30, 2012, the members at The Church of St. Peter’s Day Care Centre in Hamilton ratified a renewed three-year collective agreement, which includes a number of improvements.
Wages increase by between 60 cents and 80 cents per hour, depending on classification, in each year of the contract term.
Vacation entitlement improves to provide five weeks paid leave for those with between eight and 20 years of service, and six weeks off with pay for those with more than 20 years of service.
New language provides part-time workers with seven days’ sick leave per year.
Language improvements include shift pay for closure due to inclement weather/school closure and paid training.
