Ride for a Cure raises $12,000

Despite the rainy weather on Saturday August 11, 23 bikers and their passengers put sept25:12the pedal to the metal for a good cause. The 8th Annual Ride for a Cure began at the Local 1000A office in Woodbridge then toured through some of Ontario’s most beautiful roads and ended at the Local 175 head office in Mississauga. The ride and poker run raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC). Riders gathered pledges before the event, for a total of over $12,000 raised. Chris Watson led the group with the most pledges collected, followed by Roy Reed. There were prizes for the best and worst poker hands awarded to High Lee for the best and David Heaney for the worst. There were also Show ‘n Shine prizes:

1st Place – Hugh Lee, 2nd Place – Brian Reid & 3rd Place – Chris Chiapetta.

After the ride, participants enjoyed a delicious BBQ buffet as well as a raffle with a variety of great prizes. The organizers look forward to seeing even more folks on the road next year!
