Three-year deal ratified by Comfort Inn workers

On December 3, 2012, the bargaining unit members at the Comfort Inn in Thunder Bay had the opportunity to vote on a new collective agreement that would bring a number of improvements. The ratified contract will see wages increase across the board by 3 per cent in the first year. In the second year rates increase twice by 1 per cent each time and in the third year workers receive two increases of 1.5 per cent.
Company contributions to the Canadian Commercial Workers Industry Pension Plan (CCWIPP) increase over the term of the deal to reach a rate of 34 cents per hour worked by the beginning of the third year. The company will also make contributions to the LPI Lawcall Protection on behalf of the employees so to enrol employees in the plan, which provides members with discounted legal resources.
