Ratified contract for members at Belmont Meats

On February 27, 2012, the more than 90 members of UFCW Local 633 working at Belmont Meat Products in Weston, achieved a new three-year collective agreement. The beef processing workers receive a lump sum payment of $400 in the first year, an increase of 10 cents per hour in February and again in August of the second year, and an increase of 25 cents per hour in the final year of the agreement term.
The company will increase its contribution to the UFCW Benefit Trust Fund to $1.24 per hour per week effective February 15, 2012. This amount increases to $1.26 in 2013 and $1.33 in 2014. Company contributions to the workers’ dental plan will also increase to reach 39 cents per hour by the last year of the contract term.
Improved language addresses overtime and language ensuring job protection from contracting out will now be included as part of the collective agreement.
