Bowlers knock down pins to try and knock out leukemia

May 15, 2013 at 7:17pm

Lorri Wigle from Metro #141 and Local 633 Executive Board Vice-President Bradmay15:13 Wigle from Metro #147, along with a number of stewards from the Windsor/Leamington area, organized the first ever ‘Strike for a Cure’ bowling tournament on May 11, 2013. Approximately 170 bowlers took part in the bowl-a-thon at the Rose Bowl Lanes in Windsor. The event, hosted by Locals 175 & 633 Region 4, raised $4,410 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLS).

“It was a great event,” says Region 4 Director, Sylvia Groom. “We had 170 people come out to bowl with us and they gave generously to the fundraising effort by buying raffle prize tickets.”

While there was no real tournament champion, everyone had a great time throughout the evening. There were a number of door and raffle prizes available to win and everyone who bowled was entered into a draw to win Hamilton Tigers tickets.

Thank you to those who organized and participated in the event and to everyone who gave generously to raise funds for the LLS.
