Members at Sodexo secure new collective agreement

Members working at Sodexo Canada in Cornwall ratified a new collective agreement at a meeting held September 6, 2013.

Wages increase by a total of $1.40 over the course of the contract term. Preference for the number of hours worked weekly from Monday to Friday, up to and including 40 hours, will be given by seniority to full-time employees. Additional language maximizes the hours for part-time workers based on seniority as well.

Health and welfare benefit improves include coverage until the age of 70 instead of 65, increased dental benefits of 90%, up from 80%, plus the annual maximum is now $1,500, up from the previous $1,000. Vision care is now covered up to $250, up from $100, and the workers’ life insurance and AD&D coverage increases to $25,000, up from $10,000. Prescription orthotics will now be covered to an annual combined maximum of $500. The hearing aid benefit increases, by $200, to $500 of coverage.
