Improved compensation for Petawawa Firefighters

February 21, 2014 at 1:35pm

The 35 volunteer firefighters in the Town of Petawawa have a newly ratified three-year collective agreement.
The stand-by pay increases to $225, up from $150, per week, and a minimum call-out time of three hours becomes effective March 1. Members required to work on a fire call on a Statutory Holiday, as indicated in the agreement, will receive pay at 1.5 times the regular rate. In addition, those who have public holidays fall during their scheduled stand-by will receive $25 for each full day and $12.50 for half-days. Workers also receive an annual boot allowance of $120.
The agreement was ratified at a meeting held February 9, 2014.
