Food drive raises $691 and pick-up truck full of food

Food Drive, Food Basics Cornwall - UFCW Locals 175 & 633On Saturday, June 28, members and other employees from Food Basics in Cornwall, along with community volunteers, held a Food Drive to support the local Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Food Bank.

 

“I am so proud of all of our volunteers,” explained Local 175 Union Rep Daniel Mercier who was on hand for the food drive along with Executive Board members Jean Patenaude and Louise Summers. “It was a great day and this successful effort will do a lot of good for this community.”

 

In exchange for their donation of a non-perishable food item or money, customers had the chance to win one of four gift cards for $25 each for Food Basics, or a bicycle.

 

All the proceeds – $691 plus a pick-up truck full of food – went directly to the Food Bank on Second Street West in Cornwall.

 

Thank you to the members and others who gave their time and effort for such a good cause.
