Third Annual Kraus-Strudex Worker Appreciation BBQ
From August 12 – 13, 2014, the members of Local 175 at Kraus Carpet Mills and Strudex Fibres in Waterloo enjoyed their annual Worker Appreciation BBQ hosted by the Union and the company.
All the food was free and prizes, such as a day off with pay, Toronto Argo and FC tickets and more, were raffled off with proceeds being donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) and Habitat for Humanity.
“These events are good for morale and the charities these workers are raising money for,” said Shawn Haggerty, President of UFCW Local 175, who helped out at the BBQ on Wednesday afternoon. “These members were generous and raised a good amount of money, and I think everyone enjoyed their extended lunch hour with their co-workers and friends.”
Chief Stewards Roseline Born (Kraus) and Rick Pajuluoma (Strudex) [pictured below at the prize draw table], as well as Rick Daudlin, who is the Chief Steward at Cargill Dunlop, and a number of Union Reps were on hand to help throughout the two-day event to keep the BBQs running and the more than 230 workers well fed.
