Metro Island Park workers ratify new agreement
Members of UFCW Locals 175 & 633 working at Metro Island Park in Ottawa met on November 30, 2014 to vote on a renewal to their collective agreement.
The ratified contract includes end rate wage increases over the term of the contract totaling $1.80 per hour for full-time clerks, $2 per hour for full-time meat cutters, and up to $1.80 per hour for part-time clerks.
Worker benefit from the introduction of a drug card for prescriptions, increased short-term disability and extended health care provisions, and new orthotics coverage.
Language improvements provide an enhanced safety boot allowance, an increase to the night crew shift premium and a new premium paid for receiver relief. The contract also contains important new language addressing bullying in the workplace and the duty to accommodate.
