Westin Ottawa workers ratify

On November 14, 2014 the bargaining unit members at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa achieved a new collective agreement that will see them through the next four years.

Wages for employees classified as non-tipped increase by 40 cents per hour in each year of the contract. Those who receive tips will receive increases of 30 cents per hour in each year of the term. The employer will increase the long-term valet parking gratuity to $1.75 per car, up from $1. Each year in April, the employer will pay $50 to full-time housekeeping staff in lieu of coffee compensation. The employer will also pay a Maintenance tool allowance of $50 each year. Workers also benefit from an additional paid sick day as of January 1, 2016.
