Sudbury Waste Management workers ratify new collective agreement
Members at Waste Management in Sudbury ratified a new collective agreement at a meeting held on May 2, 2015. The 3 year deal will provide wage increases of 2.5% in year 1 & 2 and 3% in the 3rd year. A signing bonus of $600 will be paid following ratification.
With regard to health and welfare the employer will contribute $200 per full-time employee (who has gained seniority) per month towards a union sponsored benefit plan. Improvements to the bereavement leave language allow for 2 extra days for immediate family and an increase to 2 days from 1 day for other family members as described in the agreement. There is a further allowance to defer one day if the interment is postponed. The meal allowance will increase to $15 from $10.
