Employees at the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture join the Union

Canadian Centre Victims of Torture employees join the UnionEmployees at the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture (CCVT) in Toronto are now members of UFCW Local 175.

Many of the thousands of refugees that Canada accepts each year are victims of torture and survivors of war. The employees at the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture provide vital support and services to help these individuals deal with trauma, and integrate into society in their new home.

Often, the employees themselves are women who are newcomers to Canada as well. Jobs at the CCVT include Counsellors for Settlement, Youth, and Mental Health, Employment Services, and Skills Instructors.

The Members won their certification vote on October 17, 2018.
