President Shawn Haggerty and the staff of Locals 175 & 633 offer one of the most extensive and accessible Membership Training and Education programs in Canada. Members and their families can choose from a wide variety of free educational opportunities including online labour education, in class courses and programs through the Locals' mobile training unit.

Courses include computer training delivered from our training centres or Online; English as a Second Language (ESL); Skills Upgrading or Ontario Secondary School Diploma credits delivered in conjunction with local school boards; and other courses such as First Aid, and Women's Self-Defence and of course our high school online program.

The Local is committed to ensuring each steward has the knowledge they need to face their challenges in the workplace. To meet this goal, we developed an extensive list of labour education courses our stewards can take such as: Collective Bargaining; Union Organizing; Health and Safety; and Stewards courses from Introduction to Advanced.

Locals 175 & 633 was the first Union in Canada to use Mobile Computer Training Labs to bring computer courses to our members in their own local communities. These Labs complement our Training and Education Centres in Mississauga and Hamilton.

Locals 175 & 633 also offer scholarships for members and their families enrolled in post-secondary education.
