Youth Committee Roots

Since the 1999 formation of the Youth Task Force, UFCW Locals 175 & 633 has established a functioning and growing Youth Committee to reach out to our young members.

Various activities include the Youth Arts Project (YAP), Youth Leadership Development Program, training courses, poster campaigns, letter writing campaigns, music contests, holding raffles and inviting our young members to participate in Labour Day parades.

Youth attend weekend Steward Seminars to learn about the various initiatives and successes of the Youth Committee.

The committee also established an e-mail list of young members in our Local who want to participate in the Youth Committee. If you want to be included in our Contact List for the Youth Committee, please e-mail us: youth@ufcw175.com.

The Local has sent members to the UFCW Canada Youth Internship Program over the past two years. The Youth Internship is a 4-week program that includes course materials, trips to the Ontario and Ottawa legislatures and current labour events. If you want to participate in the Youth Internship, please contact the Youth Committee via e-mail or call Ashleigh at 1-800-565-8329.
