Women’s History Month
October 1 @ 8:00 am - October 31 @ 5:00 pm
October is Women’s History Month in Canada
Each year the government of Canada chooses a theme for Women’s History month and this year’s chosen theme is #MakeAnImpact. It’s to pay tribute to women and girls who’ve made a lasting impact. Women who are innovators in their field, whether they are politicians, teachers, artists or activists; women and the impact they make every day, shape every aspect of daily life. It’s a time to celebrate the difference they are making.
Our Local Union has many women who are making an impact every day in their work, family and community. Check out our Facebook Page or Instagram Feed to see some of these amazing women we have already featured.
Some of them are already nominated for the Outstanding Members Achievement Award. You can nominate someone who has made an outstanding achievement in the following categories:
- Demonstrate outstanding contributions to the community;
- Manifest leadership and advancement of the UFCW;
- Dedicate themselves to fundraising for Leukemia research, or;
- Enhance & achieve improvements in health & safety (including WSIB) for their workplace.
Nominees MUST be a member in good standing of either Local 175 or Local 633 for at least six consecutive months. You can nominate yourself, a co-worker or a family member that belongs to our Local Union at http://www.ufcw175.com/events/nominate-a-union-member-for-an-achievement-award/
Nominations close on November 1st so don’t delay.
Do you know a woman of impact? Share her story with us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact your union representative and tell us about it.
And, when you’re posting on social media about the amazing contributions of the women in your life, make sure you use the hashtag #MakeAnImpact to show the world the amazing women in your life.
