With 66,000 members, Locals 175 & 633 have a powerful place in Ontario’s labour movement. Growth is essential to maintaining the strength and progress of the collective agreements we negotiate. President Haggerty and the Organizing Department are dedicated to providing excellent service to any worker who wants to bring the benefits of union membership into their workplace.
Local 175 represents workers in retail grocery and drugstores, retirement and nursing homes, funeral service facilities, industrial warehouses, packaging plants, production facilities, distribution warehouses and the hospitality industry. Local 633 represents meat cutters working in retail or non-retail establishments.
The organizing department strives to help organize workers through educating non-unionized workers on their rights in the workplace and how the presence of a union can increase their wages, improve their benefits and protect their jobs and quality of life.
Many workers are afraid to organize their workplace because they think management will fire them or that their co-workers will resist. The Local takes every precaution to protect your anonymity throughout the organizing process.
If you want to learn more or if you want to organize your workplace, please contact the Locals 175 & 633 Organizing Department at firstname.lastname@example.org

It is important to know that your employer cannot prevent you from organizing and they cannot threaten you or your job. You may not, however, conduct union business – including organizing – during your scheduled work hours. You cannot conduct union business with a coworker during their scheduled work hours. This sometimes makes it difficult to inform everyone.
