P&H poultry workers ratify two-year contract

Members working at the poultry processing facility P&H Foods in Hanover met on May 16, 2010 to vote on a renewed contract that will take them through the next two years. The approximately 370 workers secured the following improvements in the ratified deal:

  • All active employees receive a one-time lump sum of $100 in June.
  • Schedule B wages for Engineers and Millwrights increase by $1 per hour over the two-year term.
  • The company will contribute 36 cents per hour toward the Canadian Commercial Workers Industry Pension Plan (CCWIPP) Stabilization Fund.
  • New language addresses layoff and recall and same-sex partners are now included in bereavement leave language.
