Mississauga Transit Ratifies Contract
Just in time for the holidays! Members from Mississauga Transit voted yes to a new contract on December 8, 2011. The three year deal includes a 2% wage increase in each contract year (retroactive to March 31, 2011). Bereavement leave is also increased. Overtime pay will now be paid when a member works more than 7 hours per day, instead of 35 hours per week. New contract language allows members to be absent for a statutory qualifier and still qualify for holiday pay.
There were several letters of understanding added to the agreement. Regarding job postings, the company will now add the current shift schedule to the applicable job postings. Other letters of understanding, including those on arbitration and payroll errors, were renewed. The wages of the negotiating committee were also paid by the company.
