Remco workers: Welcome to UFCW Local 175

On May 23, approximately 75 new warehouse workers voted yes to joining UFCW Local 175. The Remco employees work in a Brampton warehouse that supplies Canadian H&M clothing stores exclusively.
Workers sought out the Union in an attempt to raise their wages, achieve proper pay for overtime work and have seniority recognized. Employees even went to work wearing Union t-shirts to show their solidarity.

“I want to welcome and congratulate these new members,” says Local 175 President Shawn Haggerty. “It takes a lot of determination and courage to stand up to an employer and demand dignity and respect but these workers did just that.”

Earlier this year, workers at the H&M store in Mississauga’s Square One mall became the first H&M workers in Canada to unionize. Since then, more workers in Joliette, Quebec have also voted yes to joining the union as well.
