On May 14, 2014, about 84 UFCW Local 175 Members employed at HAGI Community Services for Independence took to the picket line.
Members at HAGI have been without a contract since September 30, 2013, and have been bargaining with the employer ever since. They are looking for better wages, better pensions, more benefits, and a vacation increase for part-time members. Having not seen a wage increase since 2009, the employer’s offer was an increase of 20 cents per hour.
The Union negotiating committee and the members have since then made a counter offer and are still waiting to hear back from the employer.
