Union Members at Mondelēz ratify three-year contract
Employees will receive raises of 2% across the board in each year of the agreement term. The first increase is retroactive for hours worked since the expiry of the previous contract. In addition, all shift premiums increase by between 10 and 15 cents per hour. Members will see their safety shoe allowance increase to $150 per year, up from $125. Also, the maintenance tool allowance improves to $300 per year, up from $255.
Employees benefit from improved eye exam reimbursement of $100, up from $85, and a bump to their dental coverage maximum to $2,500, up from $2,000. Also, the extended health coverage limit is now $20,000, up from $15,000. Members now receive a healthcare prescription drug card and the amount provided to reimbursed Members for required Doctor’s notes increases as well.
The negotiating committee was successful in eliminating the employer’s ability to require academic tests of employees when awarding premium positions. Instead, the employer will asses each employee on their work performance and ability to perform the tasks in question.
Other improvements to language address layoff and recall, and summer student and job classifications. Plus, there are improvements to the High Performance Operator Classification which allows the Union to have more say in the process of screening and hiring in that classification.
