Training & Education

Your Union provides more training and education opportunities for our Members and their families than any other Local Union.

Over the years, we have offered basic and advanced computers, English as a Second Language, and high school courses. Currently, we offer CPR and First Aid training, and Computers (by request; where enough interest can be demonstrated). We also offer Weeklong Paid Training for Members, Stewards and Health & Safety committee members. Steward training is offered annually.

First Aid & CPR 'C' (with AED)

This course addresses CPR for adults, children, and infants. Plus: First Aid goals legal implications and self-protection; Contacting EMS; Primary assessment; Spine Management; Rescue breathing; Obstructed airway and choking; Hyperventilation and Asthma; Circulatory emergencies, shock, heart attack, stroke, bleeding and fainting; How to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED); Legal issues in using an AED; and on-going casualty care.
